PhD Research Fellow position in Mathematics

Three-year PhD research fellowship at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo, within QSTAR - Centre for Quantum Computing and Applications, a five-year Research Council of Norway centre (project 361617) hosted by SINTEF with UiO, NTNU, OsloMet, Simula, the University of Copenhagen and RISE. The position belongs to work package 1, fault tolerance and error correction, and the fellow will work on one of two theoretical projects: quantum groups and tensor categories with applications to fault-tolerant quantum computation through topological quantum computation, or group theory, representation theory and operator algebras to construct new families of quantum codes and study quantum channels.

Start as soon as possible and no later than 1 April 2027; salary NOK 550,800-595,000.

Master's degree or equivalent in mathematics or physics; relevant experience in operator algebras, representation theory or quantum information theory.
