Post Doctoral Fellow - NSF Critical Mineral Engine
Geology, Geochemistry and Mineralogy full-time / term-funded postdoctoral appointment at University of Alaska Fairbanks
About
Advance critical-mineral research with Sean Regan and Florian Hofmann at the UAF Geophysical Institute through the NSF Critical Mineral Accelerator Engine in Alaska. The initial project fingerprints minerals using U-Pb-TREE analysis of detrital zircon from modern river catchments with different mineralisation patterns. Work develops chemical proxies for mineral prospectivity, investigates petrogenetic processes and optimises new analytical instrumentation, including methods for alternative mineral phases.
The fellowship also allows independent research questions and collaboration with university, industry and community partners. The position is full-time, term-funded and physically based on campus in Fairbanks, with salary and employee benefits. Contract renewal is reviewed annually. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the posting may close once a sufficient candidate pool is established.
Requirements
A PhD in geology, geophysics, geological engineering, materials science, mineral processing or a closely related field, completed by appointment. Applicants must have unrestricted US work authorisation; those requiring current or future visa sponsorship are ineligible. Submit a resume, cover letter and three professional references. Quote 533602.
