Postdoctoral Research Associate - Experimental Geochemistry
Geochemistry, Materials Science and Mineralogy postdoctoral appointment / up to 24 months at Oak Ridge National Laboratory
About
Investigate the stability and reactivity of amorphous materials and transitions leading to mineral formation in the Geochemistry and Interfacial Sciences Group. The work combines wet-chemical experiments with neutron and X-ray scattering or spectroscopy, including in-situ reaction studies and data-analysis workflows. Research connects critical elements, mineral interfaces and environmental geochemistry, with opportunities to use DOE user facilities.
Topics
- mineral formation
Requirements
Relevant PhD within five years and experience synthesising and characterising minerals or nanomaterials. Wet chemistry, mineralogy, spectroscopy and user-facility experience are desirable. Three references are requested. DOE access, identity and background requirements apply; foreign nationals without three consecutive years of US residence require a favourable site-specific risk determination.
