Postdoctoral Research Associate - Organic and Critical Minerals Separation Chemist
Chemistry, Materials Science and Organic Chemistry postdoctoral appointment (up to 24 months) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory
About
Develop ligands and functionalised sorbents for recovering gallium, germanium and other critical minerals from zinc-processing streams. Research spans organic synthesis, resin and polymer modification, liquid–liquid and solid–liquid separations, and analytical characterisation. The Nanomaterials Chemistry Group collaborates with spectroscopy, theory, radiochemistry and industrial specialists. The initial appointment is up to 24 months, with possible extension subject to performance and funding.
Requirements
A PhD in organic, inorganic or polymer chemistry, materials science or a related field, completed within five years. Relevant ligand synthesis and separation experience is preferred; three references are requested. DOE access and identity/background requirements apply. Foreign nationals lacking three consecutive years of US residence require a favourable site-specific risk determination instead of the PIV credential.
