About
Foundational chemical research spanning catalysis, measurement and imaging, molecular mechanisms and properties, structure and dynamics, synthesis, chemical systems, theory and computational methods, chemistry of life processes, and macromolecular and nanoscale chemistry. Individual investigators and small teams may propose interdisciplinary work. Submissions are accepted at any time from 1 September 2026. Budgets and durations follow the proposed research; the programme budget is not an individual award amount.

Eligibility
Covers: Research project costs under standard or continuing grants; individual budgets and durations vary.
Eligible US submitting organizations; overseas branch-campus support needs justification.
Eligible US higher-education institutions acting for faculty, US nonprofit research or educational organizations, and federally recognized Tribal Nations may submit. International branch-campus costs require specific justification. A person may appear as PI, co-PI or senior/key personnel on at most two proposals per September–August year across the covered chemistry programmes, subject to the stated exceptions.
