PhD student in Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry

A salaried PhD position at the Department of Chemistry - BMC, Uppsala University, developing new methods for single-cell analysis and quantification by direct-infusion mass spectrometry. The project optimises sampling and ionisation probes for sensitive detection of metabolites and lipids from individual cells, to study cellular heterogeneity. Work spans custom-built analytical platforms coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry, from cell culture and experimental design to data acquisition, molecular annotation and data processing, together with targeted tandem MS methods and reactive chemistry strategies for confident identification and quantification.

The student will collaborate with teams in chemistry, biology, medicine and information technology (reference UFV-PA 2026/3274).
