About

Twelve-month postdoctoral position (extension possible) at XLIM in Limoges within OPALE (reconfigurable shutters and radiating panels), a collaborative project between CNRS and the French defence innovation agency AID in which CEA-Leti, ICMCB, IETR, Télécom Paris and XLIM develop innovative architectures for reconfigurable devices such as attenuators/shutters and low-profile, highly directive antennas. The postdoc will model and optimise the number of controls in multi-channel antenna systems to assess how far their energy consumption can be reduced, studying feeding strategies for directive array antennas and the possibility of under-feeding them by strategically choosing the positions and weights applied to radiating elements of several antenna architectures developed in the project.

This requires developing optimisation methods that may draw on neural networks or physics-informed neural networks, and assessing how feeding choices affect the active chains connected to the radiating panel. Start date 1 January 2027; gross monthly salary €3,041.58–4,216.70.
