About
This postdoctoral position at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory develops integrated photonic-electronic-quantum systems for laser metrology in future large space telescopes, high-speed and secure space communications, sensing and power transfer. Research areas are chip-scale stable laser systems built with MEMS and nanophotonic technologies, such as silicon nitride on-chip etalons and waveguides, lithium niobate modulators, heterogeneous integration and packaging of photonic microdevices, on-chip atomic and molecular spectroscopy and vapour cells, and the supporting DC, RF and microwave electronics and optoelectronics in GaN, GaAs, InGaAs, InP, AlN and diamond that can be heterogeneously integrated with stable lasers.
The typical full-time annual hiring range is $83,820.
Requirements
PhD in physics, photonics, quantum science, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related area; familiarity with several of: UV/e-beam lithography, deposition and etching, SEM/AFM, nanophotonic and RF/microwave design software (Comsol, Ansys, Cadence, Zemax), laser spectroscopy, cavity and waveguide characterisation, thermal-mechanical analysis, MMIC and hybrid IC design, chip bonding and packaging.
