Postdoctoral researcher at the Pluripotency for Organ Regeneration Research Group (Ref. PD-EG)

The Pluripotency for Organ Regeneration Group at IBEC seeks a junior postdoctoral researcher (up to three years after the PhD defence) to develop advanced human organoid platforms based on human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) for disease modelling and drug screening. Tasks include applying engineering approaches to define controlled cell–cell and cell–ECM microenvironments that improve organoid differentiation and reproducibility (biomimetic hydrogel synthesis, organ-on-chip and 3D bioprinting); developing scalable 2D and 3D hPSC organoid differentiation; implementing assays of molecular, metabolic and functional changes during organoid development; defining standard operating procedures; analysing complex datasets and publishing; and mentoring PhD and Master’s students while overseeing project milestones.

Full-time open-ended contract linked to the project and its budget, starting January 2027 (one position). Reference PD-EG.

Essential: PhD in biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, biomedicine or similar, within three years of the thesis defence; proven knowledge of hPSC culture and differentiation (hPSC-organoid derivation a plus), confocal microscopy, quantitative image analysis and molecular biology; proven experience in bioengineering technologies (microfabrication, biomaterials, organ-on-chip, bioprinting); independence, project management and mentoring experience; high level of English. Advantageous: quantitative 2D/3D organoid and live imaging with custom scripts; CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing; bulk and single-cell RNA-seq analysis.
