About

The Forti lab at the CHOP Research Institute is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to develop and validate next-generation non-invasive optical technologies for monitoring brain physiology after traumatic brain injury. Supported by an NIH R01, the project develops diffuse optical methods to assess cerebral haemodynamics, oxygen metabolism and tissue water in a translational large-animal (swine) model of paediatric TBI, combining frequency-domain diffuse optical spectroscopy and speckle-based cerebral blood flow measurements with tissue-simulating phantom studies, computational modelling and in vivo validation.

The fellow builds and characterises instrumentation, develops methods to reduce scalp and skull contamination of cerebral signals, maintains signal-processing pipelines, integrates optical data with physiological monitoring and MRI, and works with biomedical engineers, physicists and clinicians within a structured mentored training programme.

Requirements

Doctoral training relevant to diffuse optical instrumentation, signal processing and quantitative analysis of multimodal physiological data for non-invasive brain monitoring.
