Senior researcher at the Smart Nano-Bio-Devices Research Group (Ref. SRR_SS)

The Smart Nano-Bio-Devices Group at IBEC seeks a Senior Researcher to develop research on new nanotechnologies for precision medicine using smart nanosystems such as nanoparticles, nanomotors and nanomachines, with experience in drug delivery systems for biomedical applications and in particular cancer therapy. Responsibilities include contributing high-quality research ideas and designing experiments, leading one or more of the group’s research lines, publishing and presenting results, supervising undergraduate, Master’s and PhD students, writing individual and cooperative funding proposals, providing scientific support to translational applications of nanoparticles and nanomotors, generating patentable innovation, and acting as contact person when the group leader is absent.

Full-time permanent position (one vacancy) with starting date December 2026, under the replacement rate set by the General State Budget law; IBEC offers family-friendly measures, a yearly training catalogue and a mentoring programme. Reference SRR_SS.

Essential: PhD with postdoctoral experience in chemistry, physics, biophysics, biomedical engineering, nanotechnology or related fields with a focus on translational (nano)medicine; at least six years since the (first) doctoral thesis defence; demonstrated scientific-technological production; multidisciplinary skills combining nanotechnology, physics, chemistry and biomedicine (drug delivery, chemical synthesis, biomedical imaging); experience in nanoparticle synthesis, nanoformulation, surface functionalisation and drug loading/release; cell culture and toxicity studies (confocal, FACS); high level of English. Advantageous: cancer nanomedicine, programming and data analysis, optical microscopy and medical imaging.
