Research assistant professor (non-tenure track) position
Simons Center / C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics - Research Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Track Position)
Stony Brook University
About
The Simons Center for Geometry and Physics and the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics at Stony Brook University seek three Physics Research Assistant Professors. Research spans theoretical physics at its interface with geometry: recent developments in cosmology, string theory and quantum field theory, together with progress in topology and differential geometry, have made these fields increasingly intertwined. The non-tenure-track appointments start September 1, 2027 with an annual salary of $81,000, a $5,000 yearly research fund for travel and visitors, and $2,000 toward moving expenses.
Review of applications begins December 1, 2026.
Requirements
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in theoretical physics or a closely related field earned before August 31, 2027 and an established record of outstanding independent research. Application: cover letter, CV, research statement, three reference letters and publication list.
