Upcoming events

SC26 connects researchers and practitioners developing high-performance computing, networking, storage and scientific data analysis. The programme includes research presentations, tutorials and workshops at McCormick Place in Chicago, 15–20 November 2026. Registration is open, with early rates through 14 October. A digital participation option is available through the official registration page.

SIAM’s computational science and engineering meeting covers mathematical models, scalable algorithms, scientific software, high-performance computing and scientific machine learning. It takes place in Pittsburgh on 22–26 February 2027. Travel-support applications are open until 30 November 2026. Abstract deadlines have passed; registration is scheduled to open in December 2026. The meeting is co-located with ACDA27 and the International Meshing Roundtable.

Open deadlines

Deadline Sun, Oct 11, 2026

CERN is recruiting a detector-simulation physicist to develop GPU-accelerated Monte Carlo software in the Geant4 team, with a focus on optical-photon transport. The work includes GPU algorithm design, validation against established CPU simulations, performance profiling and optimisation, and integration with experimental software frameworks. The 24-month hybrid appointment is based in Geneva with an ideal start date of 1 January 2027. Applications close on 11 October 2026 at 23:59 Geneva time.

Grant

UKRI: Integration of AI/HPC with quantum computing

UK Research and Innovation (EPSRC and STFC)

Deadline Tue, Nov 3, 2026

Funding for collaborative projects that integrate quantum computing into workflows using high-performance computing and artificial intelligence. Projects should address practical bottlenecks and demonstrate benefits of quantum-classical approaches. Projects can last three years from a fixed start of 1 June 2027. The maximum project full economic cost is £3.75 million, with EPSRC funding 80%. Applications close at 16:00 UK time on 3 November 2026.
