The Chesapeake Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers meets at William & Mary with remote Zoom attendance available for the Saturday 10 October meeting. The program runs approximately 08:00–17:00 Eastern time and includes physics-education research, inquiry-based learning, AI-assisted assessment, classroom quantum computing, demonstrations and student reasoning across mathematics and physics. CUPC brings undergraduate physics researchers together to present and discuss their work through student talks, posters, keynote lectures and panels. The 61st conference spans physics disciplines, with medical and biological physics, health and nuclear physics, research-facility tours, and a graduate-studies and industry fair. This Perimeter Institute conference brings together researchers studying quantum reference frames, quantum gravity, quantum foundations and related experiments. Topics include relational observables, quantum information in dynamical spacetime, locality, causality, entanglement, and the operational meaning of observers and subsystems. The meeting runs from 26 to 30 October 2026 in Waterloo, Canada. Registration is currently open, and the organizer provides information for virtual participation.

The APS plasma-physics meeting is held jointly with the Gaseous Electronics Conference. Its programme combines invited research reviews, contributed presentations, posters and mini-conferences across magnetic fusion, high-energy-density and laser-plasma physics, astrophysical plasmas and low-temperature plasma science. Experimental measurements, theory and computation address plasma stability, transport, material response and confinement. The opening review by Riccardo Betti (University of Rochester, Laboratory for Laser Energetics) examines a decade of OMEGA direct-drive implosions: pressure and fusion-yield improvements, hydrodynamic extrapolation to ignition, and the limits of that scaling. It connects improved microphysics, diagnostics, targets and statistical design with the balance between compression and three-dimensional stability, then considers broadband lasers and hybrid targets as routes toward higher gain. This Faraday Discussion compares electrochemical devices on Earth and in space. Researchers examine how reduced gravity changes bubble dynamics, transport and efficiency; electrolyser designs that manage gas separation and withstand radiation and temperature extremes; battery interfaces, dendrites and durability; and fuel-cell catalysts, gas handling and closed-loop energy storage. This scientific discussion meeting asks which nanoscale optical sensing approaches can deliver affordable, information-rich healthcare measurements. Its focus is continuous biochemical monitoring beyond conventional physiological wearables and diagnostic sensors. The programme examines interferometric biomarker detection, surface-enhanced Raman assays, nanophotonic sensing and translation toward practical diagnostic tools, comparing modalities and their potential for use across healthcare settings. SC26 connects researchers and practitioners developing high-performance computing, networking, storage and scientific data analysis. The programme includes research presentations, tutorials and workshops at McCormick Place in Chicago, 15–20 November 2026. Registration is open, with early rates through 14 October. Fourteen linked symposia connect materials synthesis, characterisation, modelling and properties with applications in energy, health, transport, housing, electronics and environmental protection. The programme spans polymers and organic composites, glasses and ceramics, porous and nanoscale materials, microstructure design, processing, and surface durability. Scientific contributions examine how modern atomistic simulations can bridge the cooling-rate gap between models and experiments in disordered solids, including the challenges of thermal transport and quantum effects. Surface studies combine electron and ion spectroscopy, scanning tunnelling microscopy, electrochemistry and density-functional calculations to connect atomic-scale corrosion mechanisms to macroscopic degradation and protective strategies. The 79th annual meeting of the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics brings together students, postdoctoral researchers, academics, and government and industry scientists to exchange advances across fluid dynamics. Its research programme spans more than 40 subject areas, including biological flows, drops, flow instability and vortex dynamics. Contributed and invited talks, prize lectures, minisymposia, focus sessions, technical and student posters, and DFD-Interact provide complementary formats for scientific discussion. The exhibition includes measurement and instrumentation technologies. Meeting chair S. Balachandar and co-chair Jason Butler lead the local organizing committee. This meeting examines how brain-inspired hardware could reduce AI’s growing energy requirements. Researchers connect materials and memory devices with circuits, systems and applications, including sparse computation and compute-in-memory architectures that reduce data movement.
