Abstract

General relativity makes causal structure dynamical, while quantum uncertainty challenges a sharply defined light cone. This talk presents a programme for describing causal geometry quantum mechanically across several approaches to gravity. It constructs physical observables from light-cone geometry, develops their quantum description using earlier loop-gravity results and explores how discrete geometry could modify the spectra of exceptionally luminous gravitational-wave events.
