Src-NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 complex and recognition memory of imprinting in domestic chicks

Lela Chitadze, Maia Meparishvili, Vincenzo Lagani, Zaza Khuchua, Brian McCabe, Revaz Solomonia · FENS Forum 2024

Src is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that participates in several neuronal processes including synaptic plasticity. We have recently shown that the amounts of total Src and its two phosphorylated forms, at tyrosine-416 (activated) and tyrosine-527 (inhibited), undergo time-dependent, region-specific learning-related changes in the domestic chick forebrain after visual imprinting. These changes occur only in the intermediate medial mesopallium (IMM), a site of learning and memory formation for visual imprinting. Src contains a region of low sequence conservation, which interacts with mitochond

Transmitter co-release in neuropsychiatric diseases

Ségolène La Batide-Alanore · FENS Forum 2024

Mood disorders such as depression or anxiety disorders are the most prevalent psychiatric diseases and represent the highest level of avoidable health-care cost in first world countries. Nonetheless, the biological foundation of these diseases is only poorly understood despite decades of research. Most clinically used antidepressants target the monoamine system and aim at either raising the levels of monoamines (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine) in the synaptic cleft through inhibition of reuptake or act on monoaminergic receptors. However, it takes several weeks until an antidepressant eff
