Workshop

20 Years of Mean-Field Games

About

Marking twenty years of research on mean-field games (MFG) and mean-field control (MFC), this workshop brings together leading specialists in the theory and its applications. Introduced by Lasry and Lions and, independently, by Caines, Huang and Malhamé, MFG and MFC models describe dynamic interactions among very large numbers of rational agents, with applications in macroeconomics (heterogeneous agent models), finance (price formation, limit order books, systemic risk), engineering (crowd analysis, smart cities, self-driving vehicles), energy markets and epidemic modelling. The workshop aims to identify the main open questions, suggest methods for more complex models and propose new applications. It includes a poster session for early-career researchers; poster proposals (submitted after registering) are due Sunday 29 November 2026. All registrants, online and in person, receive Zoom links and can attend online. In-person seats are limited and in-person registrants must wait for an invitation from IMSI before travelling; invited in-person participants pay a non-refundable fee of $25 (students) or $50 (non-students).
