The maternal-fetal dialogue: from mechanisms to pregnancy outcomes
Reproductive Biology, Developmental Biology and conference by EMBL
About
This symposium links molecular mechanisms of maternal-fetal communication with healthy development and pregnancy complications. It examines implantation, placental development, trophoblast differentiation and invasion, decidualisation and spiral-artery remodelling. Immune-cell interactions, endometrial glands, oxygen and nutrient supply are considered alongside mechanisms underlying pregnancy disorders.
Stem-cell embryo models, organoids and microphysiological systems are connected with single-cell, spatial and multi-omic measurements, gene editing and bioengineering. The programme welcomes researchers and clinicians across career stages to compare experimental systems and identify questions spanning basic and clinical pregnancy research.
