Intellectual Property Policy

1.Ownership

Unless stated otherwise, content available on world-wide.org is owned by its respective rights holders — speakers, authors, institutions, organisers, or publishers. Our role is to host, index, and present content to support scientific communication; hosting transfers no ownership to us. The platform’s own software, design, and compilation are protected, and “World Wide” and related branding may not be used in ways that imply endorsement without prior written permission.

2.Permitted use

• Linking to public pages on world-wide.org.
• Quoting reasonable excerpts for commentary, criticism, teaching, or scholarship with proper attribution, within statutory copyright limits.
• Using bibliographic metadata (titles, speakers, abstracts, DOIs) for discovery and citation where permitted.

3.Prohibited use

• Reproducing, distributing, or publicly performing hosted content without rights-holder permission where permission is required.
• Removing attribution, rights notices, or DOI references.
• Automated extraction at scale that violates our acceptable-use rules, robots directives, or rate limits.

4.Submitted content

If you submit content, you retain your rights and grant us the hosting licence described in Section 4 of the Terms & Conditions — the non-exclusive permission to host, display, index, and distribute the content through the platform’s interfaces. A registered DOI remains a persistent part of the scholarly record; associated metadata can be corrected or reduced where applicable rights require it, as described in the Terms, Section 5.

5.Infringement notices

To report content you believe infringes your rights, email info@world-wide.org with:

• the URL(s) of the material on world-wide.org;
• identification of the protected work and of your rights in it (ownership or authorisation to act for the owner);
• your contact details; and
• a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised.

We review substantiated notices promptly, remove or disable access to infringing material where justified, inform the submitter — who may respond — and act against repeat infringers up to account termination. Where a DOI has been registered for removed material, the identifier normally resolves to a tombstone notice in line with scholarly-record practice. The identifier’s persistence does not prevent correction, restriction, or erasure of personal metadata when applicable law requires it.
