About
SNSF Ambizione supports early-career researchers leading an independent project at a Swiss higher education institution for up to four years. Funding can cover the researcher’s salary and project costs, or project costs alone where appropriate. The final Ambizione call opened on 3 August 2026 and closes on 3 November 2026 at 17:00 CET. Projects may start between September 2027 and September 2028. This is the final call before a replacement funding scheme, not an indefinitely recurring open programme.

Apply with a supervisor or host
Covers: Salary and project costs, or project costs alone, for up to four years.
Host location: Switzerland
Nationality or residence: Swiss nationality, a qualifying Swiss degree, or qualifying research/clinical work in Switzerland is required.

PhD normally within four years, or the specified medical qualification/clinical pathway; at least 12 months of postdoctoral or post-medical research. Applicants must have Swiss nationality, a qualifying Swiss degree, or at least 12 months of qualifying post-degree research/clinical work in Switzerland. Full regulations and extension rules apply.
