Recruitment requires an initial nomination by a referee who can assess the candidate’s research ability. Referee registration is due November 13, 2026; the subsequent candidate application and recommendation documents are due December 14, 2026. The successful scientist is employed at RIKEN’s Wako campus.

Conference travel support for students and eligible early-career researchers. Awards provide USD 650 for domestic travel or USD 800 for intercontinental travel. Travel support normally includes complimentary registration; the award letter controls final terms. Selection considers research merit, presentation participation and financial need. Applicants submit a rationale and CV; students also need an advisor’s recommendation. Apply through the 2027 Travel Awards portal using the event-specific deadline, which precedes the portal’s general closing date.

…sustainability in astronomy, bringing early-career researchers together with scientific leaders. Discussion covers data-intensive research and AI, measures of scientific success, observatory design and resource use. Talks are combined with practical work on life-cycle assessment and engagement concerning dark and quiet skies. The aim is to develop a shared account of sustainable astronomy and practical recommendations for researchers and decision-makers.

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council supports early-career researchers making their first application as project lead to develop an independent research vision and establish a research group. Applications can address any EPSRC-remit field, including artificial intelligence, healthcare technologies, engineering, mathematical sciences, physical sciences, clean energy, security, and quantum technologies.

SNSF Ambizione supports early-career researchers leading an independent project at a Swiss higher education institution for up to four years. Funding can cover the researcher’s salary and project costs, or project costs alone where appropriate. The final Ambizione call opened on 3 August 2026 and closes on 3 November 2026 at 17:00 CET. Projects may start between September 2027 and September 2028. This is the final call before a replacement funding scheme, not an indefinitely recurring open programme.
