ESPRIT supports independent, innovative basic research and career development for early postdoctoral researchers across all disciplines at Austrian research institutions. A mentor supports scientific and professional development. 36 months of principal-investigator salary at the senior postdoc rate plus EUR 45,000 project costs, increasing to EUR 75,000 on a justified request. These amounts are project costs, not the total award. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
SNSF Ambizione supports early-career researchers leading an independent project at a Swiss higher education institution for up to four years. Funding can cover the researcher’s salary and project costs, or project costs alone where appropriate. The final Ambizione call opened on 3 August 2026 and closes on 3 November 2026 at 17:00 CET. Projects may start between September 2027 and September 2028. This is the final call before a replacement funding scheme, not an indefinitely recurring open programme.
