About

The Klingenstein Fellowship Awards in Neuroscience support early-career investigators in basic or clinical research that may improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders, including basic research without an immediate disease link. Areas of particular interest are cellular and molecular neuroscience (neuronal excitability, development and the genetic basis of behavior), neural systems, and translational research on the causes, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Fellows receive USD 150,000 per year for three years (USD 450,000) from 1 July, usable for salary, research assistants, equipment or other scientific activities; no institutional overhead is allowed, though fringe benefits may be charged, and the award moves with the fellow. Applications - an institutional confirmation letter, abstracts of four representative papers, a research plan of up to four pages and three or four recommendation letters, including one from the department head - are due on 1 February 2027 at 11:59 pm EST. Awards are announced in early June.
