About

The UW Department of Astronomy offers two DiRAC Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Institute for Data-intensive Research in Astrophysics and Cosmology, whose mission is to expand the frontiers of astrophysics enabled by large surveys, data-intensive algorithms and software. DiRAC leads construction of the Rubin Observatory time-domain and solar-system processing pipelines and is a founding hub of LINCC, the LSST Interdisciplinary Network for Computing and Collaboration; fellows pursue research that complements, connects to or extends DiRAC efforts, with emphasis on science with early LSST data.

The full-time, year-round appointment starts 1 September 2027 and is renewable up to three years. Applications received by 30 November 2026 receive full consideration.

Requirements

PhD (or foreign equivalent) in astronomy, physics, computer science or a related subject before the start date. Submit a cover letter, CV and a research statement of up to three pages via Interfolio.
