About

Postdoctoral fellow in Norbert Perrimon's laboratory at Harvard Medical School, which studies functional genomics, systems biology and the mechanisms by which cells, tissues and organs communicate, using Drosophila as a model system. The fellow will develop an independent computational project within the lab's focus: designing reusable bioinformatics pipelines for RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, genomics and proteomics data; developing new algorithms and integrated data-visualisation tools where existing software is inadequate; and applying computational, statistical and AI/ML approaches to multi-omics datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) to support functional discovery.

The role includes collaborating with lab members, bioinformaticians and biostatisticians, applying for fellowship funding, contributing to grants and manuscripts, and mentoring. The position is salaried and benefits-eligible, with an expected start around 31 January 2027.

Requirements

PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, computer science or a related field; strong programming skills (Python, R or similar) and experience building or maintaining analysis pipelines; experience with RNA-seq, single-cell genomics and/or proteomics data; familiarity with machine-learning or LLM-based approaches to biological data is a plus; comfort working across wet-lab and computational teams.
