About
This four-year fellowship within the Amgen Research & Development Postdoctoral Program studies causal and dynamic modelling of the human plasma proteome for therapeutic target discovery. The fellow investigates the genetic and biological determinants of circulating protein levels and their relationships with human disease, integrating population-scale proteomic, genetic and phenotypic data from the large-scale proteomics resources of Amgen deCODE genetics, including longitudinal measurements and complementary genomic and multi-omic data.
The work develops and applies statistical and computational approaches for causal inference, longitudinal proteomics and multi-omic integration, studies the genetic regulation of circulating proteins and how protein levels change during disease development, and prioritises disease-associated proteins as potential therapeutic targets. The fellow joins the proteomics team in Reykjavík, pursues independent research and collaborates with scientists across human genetics, statistics, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, disease biology and therapeutic discovery.
Requirements
A PhD completed before the start date in statistics, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or a related quantitative or biomedical discipline. Preferred: a strong record of peer-reviewed publications; expertise in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology or proteomics; experience analysing large-scale human genetic, proteomic or other high-dimensional biomedical data; familiarity with genome-wide association studies, quantitative trait locus analysis or Mendelian randomization; strong programming in R or Python, with Linux and high-performance computing experience desirable.
