The Anthony J. Leggett Institute for Condensed Matter Theory seeks postdoctoral researchers for Fall 2027. The Leggett fellowship is renewable for up to three years; Moore fellowships offer broad research choice in condensed matter theory and quantum materials. Interests include strongly correlated materials, topology, nonequilibrium physics and quantum information. Fellows collaborate with Illinois theorists and experimentalists, with access to materials, quantum-science and computing facilities.
A single application covers both fellowships and related institute positions. Submit by October 15, 2026 for full consideration; applicants should submit before that date because the campus portal displays a midnight cutoff.
Requirements
Research background in condensed matter physics, quantum information or related fields. Submit a cover letter, CV, publication list, research-interest statement and contact details for three references through the Illinois Physics application portal. Employment and export-control screening apply.
