About
Four-year-track PhD position in the Department of Biology at NTNU, in the research group of Nathalie Jurisch-Yaksi, an international team of biologists and neuroscientists studying the principles of brain development and function with an emphasis on glia, brain barriers and cerebrospinal fluid dynamics. The project aims to uncover the biological mechanisms that promote resilience to adversity: how non-neuronal processes, including brain barrier systems and glial cells, regulate the neural circuits that let animals adapt to environmental and social stressors, injuries and disease.
The candidate will work mainly with zebrafish as an in vivo model and use genetics, omics technologies, histology, advanced microscopy, behavioural analysis and computational data analysis. Gross salary is normally NOK 580,000 per year (PhD Candidate, code 1017).
Requirements
Master's degree in life science, neuroscience or equivalent (including a thesis of at least 30 ECTS) with an average grade of B or better; academically relevant background in neuroscience; experience working with animals (preferably zebrafish), laboratory skills and programming in MATLAB, Python or similar; admission to the faculty's doctoral programme.
