About
The Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR), a joint enterprise of the University of Maryland, College Park, the University of Maryland, Baltimore and NIST, seeks a postdoctoral associate to develop advanced multifunctional polymers for life-science and high-tech engineering applications. The work covers synthesis and characterisation of hybrid organic-inorganic macromolecules for self-assembling nanoscale systems and stimuli-responsive materials, characterised with NMR, SEC, AF4, DLS, MALS and ITC and in some cases visualised by cryogenic electron microscopy, within industry- and NIH-funded projects in a multidisciplinary team.
Salary range $60,000-$65,000.
Requirements
PhD in polymer sciences, chemical engineering or a related field; hands-on experience in the synthesis, purification and characterisation of synthetic polymers; strong interpersonal skills for a multidisciplinary team; excellent oral and written communication; ability to follow safety procedures and perform conventional research tasks in a synthetic laboratory. Application: cover letter, CV and at least three references.
