About

The Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division at Argonne National Laboratory seeks a postdoctoral appointee for its Polymer Upcycling Team, a multidisciplinary programme on the chemical recycling of polymers and organometallic catalysis. The appointee designs, synthesises and characterises new recyclable polymer systems, evaluates their thermomechanical properties, and investigates catalytic reaction mechanisms through reaction kinetics and complementary physical organic and inorganic chemistry approaches, communicating results through reports, presentations and publications.

The expected hiring range is $72,879–$121,465.

Requirements

Recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0–5 years) in polymer science, organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry or a closely related field; synthesis and characterization of highly air-sensitive transition-metal complexes; synthesis of polymeric materials; strong understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics in catalysis; experience designing and interpreting mechanistic experiments; hands-on GPC, rheology and NMR spectroscopy.
