About
A two-year theory postdoc in the EQUAL project (Erbium-based Silicon Quantum Light Sources), which develops chip-scale quantum light sources with embedded quantum memories from erbium emitters in ultracompact, tunable silicon nanocavities. Erbium in silicon offers semiconductor compatibility, potentially long spin coherence and telecom C-band emission, but its weak optical transition needs very strong Purcell enhancement. The postdoc works ahead of the experiments to determine which deterministic primitives, such as spin-photon gates and Bell-state measurements, become possible at different levels of Purcell enhancement, coherence and loss, and how they combine with entanglement purification and quantum error correction, building on the group's recirculating quantum photonic network architecture and open-source simulation tools.
EQUAL is a Grand Solutions Quantum project funded by Innovation Fund Denmark with HZDR, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Beamfox and Lizard Photonics.
Requirements
A PhD (or equivalent) and a background in theoretical quantum optics or quantum information science.
