About
David Gomez-Varela’s group investigates human skin host–microbiome interactions using metaproteomics, quantitative mass spectrometry, microbiology, robotics and AI-assisted data analysis. The LEO Foundation-supported project studies the health–disease dynamics of the skin metaproteome in human samples, with collaborations spanning basic science, bioinformatics and clinical research. The researcher will lead microbiological projects, plan or perform mass-spectrometry experiments, analyse data with established pipelines, write manuscripts and support funding and collaborative projects.
The three-year position runs until November 2029 and pays EUR 5,104.30 gross per month under the university collective agreement. Applications are screened on a rolling basis until 10 October 2026; the official vacancy gives document and email-submission instructions.
Requirements
Doctoral degree; expertise in microbiology, microbiome research and/or LC-MS proteomics. Hands-on R and/or Python data analysis is essential. Submit a scientific CV (two pages), motivation letter, research-interest summary, relevant publications (one page each), proof of doctorate and reference contacts, following the source instructions.
