About
Ovarian cancer is among the hardest malignancies to diagnose and manage, and key treatment decisions depend on integrating complex multimodal clinical evidence. IMPACT-OC is a major European multi-centre project building a multi-agent AI system for ovarian cancer that spans imaging, genomics, histopathology and clinical records, with privacy-preserving federated learning at its core, together with digital twin technology and clinician-facing deployment across eight European partner institutions.
The postdoctoral research associate takes a leading role in the consortium from Cambridge, in a joint post between the Department of Radiology and the Early Cancer Institute, co-supervised by Professor Ferdia Gallagher and Dr Mireia Crispin-Ortuzar and embedded in both groups. The translational role sits at the interface of artificial intelligence, clinical oncology, radiology and human-centred design, with scope to contribute to several projects, shape new analytical directions, publish, present at conferences and join collaborative funding applications.
Funding is available for two years in the first instance; the salary range is £35,302-£46,970. Interviews are scheduled for 15 December 2026 (subject to change).
Requirements
A PhD, or close to obtaining one; candidates who have submitted but not yet been awarded a PhD start as Research Assistant (Grade 5, £35,302) and move to Research Associate (Grade 7) on confirmation of the award. Applications include a covering letter of up to two pages (fit with the criteria, motivation, vision for the role and a list of publications), a CV and referee details including the most recent line manager. The appointment requires a Research Passport application.
