Postdoctoral Research Fellow — Additive Manufacturing Group

Research additive manufacturing processes for nickel-based superalloys in NIMS’s Research Center for Structural Materials. The appointment is at the Sengen site in Tsukuba, with a negotiable start on or after 1 December 2026. The initial one-year contract can be renewed according to performance and institutional criteria, up to a maximum of five years. The advertised monthly salary begins at JPY 325,360 and includes deemed overtime; commuting allowance and insurance are provided under NIMS regulations.

PhD or expected PhD in materials science, mechanics or a related field; sufficient English. SEM/TEM microstructure analysis and mechanical characterization experience are preferred.
