About

The Kvantti group (Superconducting Qubits and Circuit QED) in Aalto University's Department of Applied Physics seeks a postdoctoral researcher in experimental circuit quantum electrodynamics. The group studies circuits of superconducting qubits and resonators as platforms for quantum computers and quantum simulators and for emerging applications such as supersensitive detection, with projects funded by the EU, the Research Council of Finland and Business Finland on axion detection with superconducting qubits, microwave and optical control of quantum computers, and continuous-variable quantum information processing and sensing with parametric amplifiers.

The postdoc works in the Low Temperature Laboratory with full access to the group's facilities and the OtaNano national research infrastructure for micro-, nano- and quantum technologies, and the group belongs to the Finnish Quantum Flagship and InstituteQ. The initial fixed-term contract is two years, with a starting salary of about €4,229 per month that can rise to €4,649 depending on experience. The application deadline is 31 December 2026; screening of candidates proceeds on a rolling basis.

Requirements

PhD (awarded or expected soon) in physics, electrical engineering or computer science; preferably experience in design and fabrication of superconducting devices, cryogenic operation and measurements, microwave electronics, numerical simulations, quantum control and data analysis; candidates from related quantum-technology fields (quantum optics, trapped atoms or ions, nanoelectronics, NV centres, quantum materials) with strong motivation to transition are considered. One PDF in English with a motivation letter, CV with publications, degree certificates and transcripts, and at least two referees.
