About
A two-year WASP/WASP-HS postdoctoral position in the Division of Systems and Control, Department of Information Technology, Uppsala University. The project, run by Sara Hamis (Uppsala) with Nicolette Lakemond and Gunnar Holmberg (Linköping University), treats uncertainty in healthcare as both a statistical and a social phenomenon: AI systems express uncertainty probabilistically, while clinicians, patients and epidemiologists rely on judgement, experience and institutional context.
The research examines how stakeholders interpret uncertainty in human- and AI-generated assessments and how this shapes decisions, using surveys, interviews and phenomenological methods. The post is 90% research and 10% departmental duties, based in Uppsala, starting 15 January 2027 (reference UFV-PA 2026/3309).
Requirements
PhD in the social sciences, humanities or another relevant field (for example psychology, sociology, organisation and management, human-computer interaction, information systems, health services research or public health), or an equivalent foreign degree, within the time limits stated in the advert.
