Project Scientist - Biological Chemistry - Gonen Lab

The Department of Biological Chemistry at UCLA is recruiting an Assistant Project Scientist in Professor Gonen's laboratory, which pioneered microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED), for collaborative MicroED method development with emphasis on small molecules and membrane and soluble proteins. The role covers sample preparation for macromolecular, small-molecule and materials MicroED, optimisation of data collection and microscope parameters, data management, analysis, structure solution and pipeline optimisation, together with paper and grant writing, project management and mentoring of students, postdocs and technicians.

The posted salary range is $79,400-$209,000.

PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, materials science, bioengineering or a closely related field; prior experience in small-molecule and macromolecular MicroED sample preparation and data analysis; prior MicroED publications required, first-author MicroED publications preferred.
