About

Prof Maura Malpetti's lab in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences studies inflammation in frontotemporal dementia through ON-FIRE (Open Network for Frontotemporal dementia Innovation Research), a UK-wide multi-centre study collecting data at more than 40 sites. The postholder leads statistical analysis and data management for blood biomarkers measured with SIMOA, NULISA, mass spectrometry and multiomics platforms, and builds pipelines linking samples to NHS digital records, longitudinal clinical data, genetics and MRI and PET neuroimaging.

The work is computational analysis of blood-derived data rather than wet-lab work, and includes polygenic risk scores, immunophenotyping data and academic and industry collaborations. The post is based at the Herchel Smith Building for Brain and Mind Sciences on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and is funded for one year in the first instance. Salary: £35,302 (Research Assistant) or £38,448–£46,049 (Research Associate). Applications close on 8 November 2026 (reference RR51453).
