The Discrete Event Simulation Research Team at RIKEN’s Center for Computational Science seeks researchers for data analysis and simulation of economic and social phenomena. The project combines artificial intelligence with Fugaku and GPU computing to understand, predict and control complex socioeconomic systems, supporting climate-change mitigation and a sustainable transition within planetary boundaries. It forms part of a collaboration with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the University of Tokyo Global Commons Center.

Relevant backgrounds include mathematical modelling, large-scale social data, network science, economics and statistical physics. Positions are based in Kobe; telecommuting is generally unavailable. One-year contracts may be renewed following evaluation, through March 2029. Applications remain open until filled.
