University Assistant (PreDoc) in Statistics

Doctoral-level university assistant position at the Institute of Statistics, Graz University of Technology, which covers probability theory, statistics, data science and financial and actuarial mathematics. Current basic research addresses reconstruction of noisy functional data, asymptotics of nonparametric statistical models, theoretical and practical aspects of risk models, robustness of risk measures and control problems in financial and insurance mathematics.

The postholder does active research in stochastics, attends conferences and workshops, and teaches exercise classes in the Bachelor's and Master's mathematics programmes and in service teaching. The role also supports the institute's organisation of scientific events. Full-time for 48 months from February 2027, with a minimum annual gross salary of EUR 52,865.40.

Completed degree in technical mathematics, mathematics or statistics; very good English and good German. Desirable: very good knowledge of probability theory, statistics or analysis, experience with relevant software, and interest in research in probability and statistics and in teaching.
