Postdoctoral Scholar Program — 2027–2028

Eighteen-month postdoctoral research appointments in ocean sciences and engineering, including chemistry, geology, geophysics, mathematics, meteorology, physics, biology, economics and marine policy. Scholars conduct independent research with WHOI scientific or senior technical staff; the 2027 competition also includes Marine Policy and Ocean Carbon Cycling awards. Annual stipend is at least USD 73,000, with relocation, health and welfare allowances and an independent research budget. Appointments start between 1 January and 1 October 2027; scholars must reside at WHOI for at least two-thirds of the appointment. Applications are open and close on 15 October 2026.
