From CRISPR-Cas Immunity to Targeted Genome Editing and Beyond

Genetic Engineering, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics and seminar by Virginijus Šikšnys, Professor, Institute of Biotechnology, Vilnius

Hosted by Collège de France

Friday 17:30–18:30 Paris (GMT+1)

Recording available

Abstract

Virginijus Šikšnys traces genome-editing tools to bacterial antiviral defence. Programmable CRISPR-Cas nucleases offer powerful ways to alter DNA, but delivery, unintended effects, immune interactions and insertion efficiency remain challenges. The lecture discusses compact TnpB nucleases and how further study of defence systems may reveal useful enzymatic functions.
