The programme connects coastal-ocean processes with atmosphere–land interactions, monsoon variability and extreme weather, emphasizing the Indian Ocean while addressing wider climate questions. Participants combine observations, theory and numerical modelling to study hydrology, coastal feedbacks and prediction. Hands-on training runs January 18–25, followed by a research discussion meeting on January 27–29. The training targets graduate students and early-career scientists; the discussion meeting admits the broader relevant research community through selection based on research background and abstracts. ICTS provides accommodation for outstation participants.

Workshop on the Dynamics and Mass Budget of Arctic Glaciers
Hafjell, Norway
The workshop examines Arctic glacier and Greenland ice-sheet changes using field measurements, remote sensing and modelling. A cross-cutting theme follows water from snowfall and rain through melt, glacier motion, runoff, ocean freshwater inputs and outburst floods. Participants contribute talks or posters in person. Registration is free for attendees staying at the venue; other participants pay a daily fee. Limited travel support is available to eligible early-career researchers, with applications due 1 November 2026. Hotel payments are due 10 December 2026.

Advancing Predictions of Ocean Mixing
Banff, Canada
Small-scale ocean mixing must be understood and represented accurately in climate models. This workshop joins mathematicians, numerical modellers, laboratory researchers, observational oceanographers and machine-learning specialists to connect mixing mechanisms with predictive parameterizations. Participants will compare theory, experiments and increasingly detailed observations, assess computational and learning approaches, and identify ways to transfer advances between disciplines. Early-career researchers will gain a broad view of the methods and collaborations needed to link mathematical descriptions to ocean behaviour.
