Climate Science funding

PhD or other terminal degree completed by fellowship start; priority for applicants within one year of degree completion and with limited postdoctoral experience. A Berkeley tenured associate/full professor other than the dissertation adviser must agree to mentor before application. US employment authorization is required. Fellows reside at Berkeley, conduct full-time research and attend programme activities.

PhD normally within four years, or the specified medical qualification/clinical pathway; at least 12 months of postdoctoral or post-medical research. Applicants must have Swiss nationality, a qualifying Swiss degree, or at least 12 months of qualifying post-degree research/clinical work in Switzerland. Full regulations and extension rules apply.

Post-PhD researchers affiliated with a UK higher-education institution or equivalent research establishment, or Society Fellows and members employed outside the UK.

The project lead must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for ESRC/UKRI funding throughout the grant. UK businesses, third-sector bodies, government organisations and non-UK organisations cannot lead. At least one co-lead must come from a UK business, third-sector or government body. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are required; associated studentships and clinical trials are excluded.

Researchers at eligible UK NERC research organisations who meet the individual eligibility rules may apply. The lead research organisation submits the full application. Norway-based project co-leads are eligible under the UK–Norway agreement; other international partners generally fund their own involvement.

Applicants must meet NERC individual eligibility criteria and be based at an eligible UK research organisation. The outline is required within four weeks of the unexpected natural event. A full proposal follows invitation and is submitted by the lead organisation. A project lead or co-lead involved in a NERC urgency application within the previous two years cannot submit another full application.
