About
IMS Epidemiology at the University of Cambridge appoints an Assistant Research Professor in Public Health Evaluation in its Population Health Interventions group, an interdisciplinary team using epidemiological, public health and social science approaches to understand how changes in fiscal, physical and social environments can improve diet, physical activity and health. The postholder works on a programme funded by an NIHR fellowship (NIHR305560) held by Jenna Panter, which aims to provide generalisable, context-aware explanations for why interventions in the transport system succeed or fail, with scope to shape an ambitious research programme.
IMS Epidemiology, a division of the School of Clinical Medicine at the Institute of Metabolic Science on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, studies genetic, developmental and environmental contributors to obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders using large-scale epidemiological studies. The post is funded for 18 months in the first instance, with a salary range of £48,337-£61,165; part-time and flexible working are welcome, and hybrid working expects at least two office days per week.
Interviews are scheduled for 15 December 2026.
Requirements
A PhD in public health or a related discipline and strong skills in evaluating population health interventions, with proven experience in one or more of: quantitative analysis of secondary repeated cross-sectional or longitudinal data; spatial analysis of locational data; or complex systems methods such as systems mapping, group model building and causal loop diagrams. Proven experience building stakeholder relationships and negotiating data access is required. Applications include a covering letter, a CV and referee details including the most recent line manager.
