Biologist Postdoctoral Fellow
Microbiology, Synthetic Biology and postdoctoral position at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
About
Join the Mukhopadhyay Group and DOE m-CAFEs project to engineer plant-associated microbes and investigate sorghum root ecosystems. The research combines genetics, proteomics, metabolomics and functional genomics to study microbial stress responses, biofilms, horizontal gene transfer, community stability and root colonization. Responsibilities include microbial engineering, quantitative assays, sequencing analysis and reproducible experimental records. The anticipated start is January 1, 2027. Priority consideration is November 2, 2026; applications continue until the posting is removed.
Requirements
Recent PhD, normally within one to two years, in microbiology, molecular biology, plant biology or a related field; plant–microbe research, microbial genetics and sequencing/bioinformatics experience.
