Position
Postdoctoral Fellow - P Znamenskiy lab
The Francis Crick Institute
- London, United Kingdom
- Neuroscience
About
The Znamenskiy lab at the Francis Crick Institute studies how the in vivo function, synaptic organisation and molecular identity of cortical neurons relate, aiming to understand how connections between neuronal cell types are organised and how that organisation supports the computations they perform. The postdoctoral fellow leads a project on how the cell types of the cortical microcircuit respond to three-dimensional visual stimuli and how the inputs onto single depth-selective neurons give rise to their response properties.
The project combines multiphoton calcium imaging of neuronal responses in virtual reality, correlative in situ sequencing to relate the molecular identity of single neurons to their in vivo responses, and molecular connectomics resolving the synaptic inputs of hundreds of neurons simultaneously. Typical activities include developing research directions, designing and running experiments including behavioural experiments, analysing data, presenting at lab meetings and conferences, writing manuscripts and supervising junior staff.
This is a full-time, four-year fixed-term position reporting to group leader Petr Znamenskiy, with a salary from £47,500 plus benefits, subject to skills and experience.
Requirements
A PhD in neuroscience or a related field, or in the final stages of submission; a strong record of scientific contribution evidenced by publications, preprints or submitted manuscripts; coding experience in Python or MATLAB; and hands-on experience with in vivo calcium imaging or electrophysiology.
