Postdoctoral research associate / full time position
Postdoctoral Research Associate, Genetic Basis of Phenotypic Variation in Drosophila
Texas A&M University
About
A postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University will investigate the genetic basis of phenotypic variation using Drosophila as a model system. The laboratory studies how structural variants, repetitive DNA and other genetic variation shape phenotypes through effects on gene regulation, genome function and organismal traits. The associate will lead independent projects that can combine molecular biology, genetics, functional genomics, population genomics, pangenomics, genome engineering, computational biology and bioinformatics, with the experimental-computational balance tailored to the candidate; generate and analyse genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic and phenotypic datasets; develop reproducible analysis workflows on high-performance computing; publish and present; and mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers.
The position is grant funded.
Requirements
Appropriate PhD in a related field; preferred PhD in genetics, genomics, molecular, evolutionary or computational biology or bioinformatics, with peer-reviewed publications and experience in molecular biology, functional genomics, genome engineering (e.g. CRISPR/Cas9), bioinformatics or population/evolutionary genomics and high-throughput sequencing analysis.
