About

The Armenise-Harvard Integrative Nuclear Architecture (INA) research unit, coordinated by Irene Farabella, studies the principles of 3D genome organization and its plasticity, and how nuclear components contribute to gene regulation across spatial scales. This project investigates how RNA-dependent regulatory mechanisms contribute to chromatin architecture, focusing on how nuclear RNAs shape genome organization in relation to cell state and identity.

The postdoctoral researcher will develop and optimize experimental methods for candidate RNAs, combine molecular perturbations with functional and cell-based assays, and build workflows that connect RNA biology with single-cell spatial genomics using FISH-omics and chromatin tracing, working alongside bioinformatics, image-analysis and computational-genomics specialists. The unit is a member of the FANTOM6 consortium and IIT's RNA Technologies Flagship.

The one-year renewable collaboration contract in Genoa pays a gross annual salary of 35,000 to 40,000 euros and is funded by the Giovanni Armenise Harvard Foundation.

Requirements

PhD in biotechnology, biology, molecular biology, biophysics, physics, structural biology or a related discipline; documented experience in multi-omics data analysis; experience with functional perturbation approaches such as gene knockdown, genome editing or phenotypic profiling; experience in advanced imaging, chromatin biology, RNA biology or 3D genome organization; fluent spoken and written English. Applications include a detailed CV, cover letter and two reference letters.
