About

The Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (TTIC), a philanthropically endowed institute for fundamental research and graduate education in computer science, is hiring multiple Research Assistant Professors (RAPs). A RAP is a fixed-term, non-tenure-track faculty position fully funded by the Institute for three years: RAPs set their own research agenda with a mentor but no supervisor, have no compulsory teaching, can be PIs or co-PIs on grants, co-advise students and host visiting students, and receive an initial computing budget and an annual research budget.

TTIC welcomes RAP applicants from a variety of computer science areas and gives preference to machine learning; computer vision and computational photography; natural language processing and speech; robotics; and algorithms and complexity theory. It encourages applicants in relevant areas to apply jointly to the Simons-Berkeley Research Fellowship. The position is a 9-month appointment paid over 12 months with a budgeted salary of $110,000. Review began on 30 October with interviews from November; applications are reviewed until positions are filled, but full review is not guaranteed for applications received after 1 December.

Requirements

Applicants for the RAP program in computer science submit a CV, research statement, optional teaching statement and the names and contact information of at least three references through TTIC's faculty application system.
